Overview of Amarnath Yatra

• Location: Amarnath Cave, Jammu & Kashmir, India
• Altitude: About 3,888 meters (12,756 ft) above sea level
• Main Attraction: The ice Shivling (Amarnath Lingam), which naturally forms inside the cave during summer
• Spiritual Significance: Believed to be the place where Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality to Goddess Parvati

• Season: The Yatra is open only for 2 months (July–August) each year
• Reason: The ice Shivling forms during this period, and weather conditions are relatively manageable for trekking.
